DUBOIS – A Curwensville man stands accused of assaulting mental health workers and another patient.
According to an affidavit of probable cause file with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office May 22, Robert Glenn Sharrer II, 31, 611 Schofield St., Curwensville, has been charged by the DuBois City police with aggravated assault, assault and harassment following an incident May 22 at Penn Highlands DuBois-East.
According to the affidavit, police were called to the east campus of Penn Highlands for an assault. Police were told by witnesses that Sharrer had assaulted three workers and another patient.
The patient allegedly told police that he saw Sharrer assaulting two of the staff members and attempted to come to their aid. The patient said that as he was trying to help the staff members, Sharrer struck the patient several times and tore his shirt.
The two victims allegedly told police that they were assigned to the adult mental health unit and were responsible for psychiatric care for Sharrer. They said Sharrer became upset and started yelling at the staff, while becoming increasingly aggressive.
Sharrer struck one of the staff members in the ear with a closed fist, causing her to fall to the ground, and the second worker was struck by Sharrer in the jaw. A third staff member attempted to calm Sharrer down, but Sharrer struck him in the head with a closed fist.
All three workers suffered bruises and swelling.
