Margaret Louise Bloom, 97, of New Millport died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Freyer’s Personal Care Home in Kerrmoor.
Born Feb. 25, 1918 in Ansonville, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Gertrude (Miller) Johnston.
Mrs. Bloom was a homemaker. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in New Millport. Mrs. Bloom was also the last charter member of the GFWC New Millport Woman’s Club.
On Dec. 1, 1937 in Hagerstown, Md., she wed Sylvan Tobias Bloom. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Raymond, Fred and Paul Johnston; and three sisters, Ruth Herd, Virginia Idock and Jean Ann Junod. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are four children, Gerald L. Bloom and his wife, Elizabeth of Snellville, Ga., Lanny L. Bloom and his wife, Bonnie of New Millport, Barry L. Bloom and his significant other, Pearl Mead of Portland, Ore.; and Bette D. Newshan of Bellmar of New Jersey.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no public visitation.
Graveside Committal Services for Mrs. Bloom will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Williams Cemetery at New Millport with Pastor Richard Steuernagle officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Olanta Lutheran Church, 9455 Curwensville-Tyrone Hwy., Olanta, PA 16863.
