Mary Ellen Swanson, 82, of Bethel Park and formerly of DuBois died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at her home.
Born Dec. 10, 1932 in Falls Creek, she was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Carlson) Allshouse.
On June 5, 1954 in Falls Creek, she married Lawrence E. Swanson. He preceded her in death in 2010.
In 1993, after 22.5 years of service, she retired from Bell of Pennsylvania as a clerk.
She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine and the International Order of Rainbow for Girls.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Advisory Board. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, playing cards and doing activities with her friends.
She is survived by her children, Lee Ann Swanson, MD, of Peters Township; Penny Truesdale and her husband, Tom of DuBois and D. Scott Swanson and his wife, Sandy of Fairbanks, Alaska; a sister, Nancy Griffin of Lakewood, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Sayers.
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5 at the chapel at Morningside Cemetery
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
