CLEARFIELD – Rob Swales, chief executive officer of the Clearfield County Economic Development Corp. (CCEDC), presented a $15,000 grant for a laser engraving machine to Superintendent Terry Struble at Monday’s Clearfield school board meeting.
Teacher Brian Lytle applied for a competitive grant through the county’s Industrial Development Authority (CCIDA). It was the second time the school district had received the grant from the CCIDA, said Swales.
According to him, the district received a grant about 10 years ago for a 3-D printing machine. This time he said the grant funding was for the latest piece of shop equipment, a laser engraving machine.
Swales said the district contributed at least $15,000 toward the purchase of the laser engraving machine, as well. Prior to the meeting, he participated in a tour of the shop facilities and said it was phenomenal to see the students’ products.
