Wondering what books to pack for your summer beach vacation?
Whether you want a romantic beach read, a celebrity tale, murder mystery, a spy thriller or a science fiction prediction for the future, Amazon’s team of editors has a summer beach read pick for you.
Amazon’s list of top 20 summer beach reads include new works, such as Mary Kay Andrews’ “Beach Town,” Sabaa Tahir’s “An Ember in the Ashes” and Pulitzer Prize winner David McCullogh’s biography of the Wright Brothers.
Prefer a tale of nature and endurance? Cheryl Strayed’s “Wild” made the list. Want to watch what you also read? Blake Crouch’s first book, “Pines,” in his “Wayward Pines” trilogy — now a limited series on Fox — is also on the list.
And if you’re convinced the world is ending, join Neal Stephenson for his fantastical read, “Seveneves.”
“There’s something for everyone on this list,” Sara Nelson, editorial director of Amazon.com, told CNN. “The fun is stumbling on something because you like the title … taking a chance on something that sounds interesting. Discovery is the fun part.”
The six-person team’s picks are independent of business side pressures, says Nelson, who previously served as books editor at O, the Oprah magazine, and editor in chief of Publishers Weekly.
Nelson’s team also posts content at the Amazon Book Review.
