Security forces rescued trapped guests after three gunmen stormed a hotel in Afghanistan’s capital on Wednesday.
More than 30 people have been rescued from Kabul’s Park Palace Guest House hotel, Kabul Crime Investigation Department Chief Farid Afzali said.
The three armed assailants behind the attack have been gunned down by Afghan security forces, he said. Of the dozens rescued, at least three people were injured, including an American woman, Afzali said.
Teams were finishing an operation to clear the building, he said.
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack, which began around 8 p.m. Wednesday (11:30 a.m. ET).
Within an hour after the siege began, Afghan special forces had surrounded the premises, a police official told CNN. Sporadic gunfire could be heard.
