HYDE — Hollidaysburg senior pitcher Alyssa Pheasant proved too tough for the Clearfield Area High School softball team Monday, firing a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts in an 8-2 non-league win at the Bison Sports Complex.
Pheasant walked one and did not allow an earned run.
Erica Hanes scored both runs for the Lady Bison, singling and eventually crossing the plate on a wild pitch in the fourth inning and reaching base on an error and stealing second base before Brittani Priester chased her home with a pinch-hit single in the sixth.
Pheasant helped her own case with three singles in the leadoff roll, but Krista Shay was the big gun for the Lady Tigers.
The senior first baseman walloped a three-run homer to deep left field in the first inning and tripled across another run in the third. She wound up with three hits and scored three runs.
Hollidaysburg tallied seven runs, six earned, on five hits off Lady Bison starter Raeleigh Redden in the first three frames.
Abby Fedder held them to three hits and one unearned run over the last four innings.
Clearfield (6-11) will visit Altoona Tuesday and host Curwensville Wednesday.
