DUBOIS – DuBois Central Catholic (DCC) swept the two game season series with Curwensville on Thursday in girls softball action, defeating the Lady Tide 4-1. In April the Lady Cardinals beat Curwensville 8-0.
The big blow for the Lady Cardinals was a fifth inning two run home run by catcher Jordan Frank to right field with one out. Frank had two hits on the day, and added three stolen bases.
Curwensville picked up one run in the fourth inning off of winning DCC pitcher Riley Assalone, who struck out 14 Lady Tide batters.
The Lady Tide got two base hits from Morgan Ross and a double from Haley McGarry and Jordan Round.
Lady Tide hurler Rylee Young surrendered just six hits, like Assalone, and struck out 11 Lady Cardinals in defeat.
The Lady Tide (9-6) has a home doubleheader with Johnsonburg on Friday, starting at 2:00 pm.
