James Edward Walker Sr., 80, of DuBois died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Christ the King Manor.
He was born June 13, 1934 in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Robert and Helen (Wisecarver) Walker.
Mr. Walker was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War.
On April 13, 1957, he married Donna J. (Jackson) Walker. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2009.
He retired as the branch manager of the Highway Equipment, starting in Pittsburgh and then moving to DuBois in 1958.
He, along with his wife and son, was the owner of the House of Gifts in the DuBois Mall, Punxsutawney and Brookville.
He then, along with his son, owned and operated Scotty’s Donuts in Punxsutawney and South Brady Street in DuBois.
Mr. Walker was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, where he had served as deacon, elder and treasurer.
He was selected “Boss of the Year” in 1976 by the DuBois Chapter of the National Secretaries Association.
He was a member and past treasurer of the DuBois Rotary Club. He was a past member and secretary of the DuBois Jaycees and a past member of Christ the King Manor Board of Directors.
Mr. Walker was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by four children, James E. Walker Jr. of Pittsburgh, Patricia J. Ross of Harrisburg and R. Scott Walker and his wife, Pamela Sue and Jennifer L. McFadden and her husband, William, both of DuBois, and five grandchildren, Devon and Daron Walker and Ellie, Leah and Evan McFadden. He is also survived by a sister, Beverly Oertel of Pittsburgh.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois with Pastor Sarah Ott officiating.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
