CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors awarded HRI Inc. of State College the 2015 paving projects at last night’s meeting.
A change order was also approved to add paving of the Center Circle Cul de Sac for an additional $4,000 on the original bid of $1,029,069.
Roadmaster Ron Woodling said that the paving list for this year is extensive. He plans to create a map of the township’s paving projects for reference at the office and will report on the schedule at each meeting.
Woodling reported that the township road crew has gotten the worst of the pot holes fixed and is currently working on stormwater pipe repairs and road sign repairs.
He also reported the township has received one-half of the $16,458.69 grant award from the Dirt and Gravel Road Grant through the Clearfield County Conservation District.
The grant is for replacement of 2,600 feet of storm drain pipe, drainage improvement and tree removal on Hemlock Hollow Road. The total proposed cost of the project is $38,922.99, with the balance of the cost, $22,464.40, to be provided with in-kind contributions.
Woodling reminds the public to be aware of their surroundings on the road, especially for the safety of road crews and construction workers.
After an executive session, the supervisors approved to advertise for two, full-time seasonal road crew positions. It was noted that applicants must have a CDL license and have mechanical and equipment experience.
The supervisors also approved a $0.25 per hour pay increase for Woodling retroactive to April 1, the end of his probationary employment period.
