John A. “Jack” Knaresboro, 86, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Oct. 16, 1928 in Braddock, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Brennan) Knaresboro.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served as a pilot during the Korean War.
On June 9, 1956, he married Lois Y. (Adams) Knaresboro. She survives.
He was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.
After 30 years of service, Mr. Knaresboro retired from Bell Telephone as a marketing specialist manager.
He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church.
He also was a member of the Treasure Lake Lions Club, the Ancient Order of Hiberians, the Wilkensburg Elks Club, the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17 and the Bell Telephone Pioneers. He was a past member of the Olympic Athletic Club.
He is survived by a son, Gary A. Knaresboro, Esq. and his wife, Terrie of DuBois; three grandchildren, Ken Radzieta, Kristi Radzieta-Long and Matt DuFour; and four great-grandchildren, Anna and Alex Long and Jarrett and Kaydence DuFour.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Helen, Nick, Frank, Robert, James, Virgil, Anita and Donald.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home; the Treasure Lake Lions Club will have a service at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
A military ritual will be conducted by the member of the DuBois Area Honor Guard at 9:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Catherine’s Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.
