Caroline Elizabeth “Carrie” Srock, 96, a resident of Greenhills Village, State College, and formerly of Philipsburg, died Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Greenhills Village, State College.
Born Oct. 17, 1918 in Leechburg, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Crail) Leighlitner.
She was a 1936 graduate of Philipsburg High School. She was the bookkeeper for Butterworth Motors, Philipsburg, until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of the Gearhartville Free Methodist Church and the Women’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and walking.
On Sept. 18, 1946 in Philipsburg, she married John M. Srock Sr. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1986.
Mrs. Srock is survived by two sons, Dale A. Srock and his wife, Jean of Ephrata and John M. “Jack” Srock Jr. and his wife, Marilyn of Charleston, SC and two daughters, Linda McKean and her husband, Clifford of State College and Cindy Thompson and her husband, Frederick of Gearhartville.
She is survived by seven grandchildren, Mindy, Wendy, Dan, Drew, Heather, Shawn and Laura; four step-grandchildren, Bridgett, Melanie, Melissa and Mandy; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Meghan, James, Caroline and Johnathan; eight step-great-grandchildren, Zachary, Cassidy, Alex, Coty, Phoebe, Kaylee, Dakota and Maddelynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Srock and Eunice Backenstose.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, with Pastor Noel Meyers officiating.
Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
