LOCK HAVEN — The Clearfield Boys and Girls Track and Field teams competed at the 17th Annual Bald Eagle Invitational on Friday night at Hubert Jack Stadium on the campus of Lock Haven University.
The folllowing report was filed by Clearfield head coach John Jacob:
Both teams had several place winners and made some major improvements heading into the final part of the season.
The highest place winner Friday was Sarah Lash in the javelin with a season best throw of 110 feet 4 inches. Sarah was very consistent recording several throws over 100 feet on the night. That kind of consistency is a good sign leading into the end of the season.
The girls also had two place winners in the 1600 meter run. Paige Mikesell and Raquel Grice had nice races and recorded season best times placing fifth and sixth respectively.
The girls (Mikesell and Grice) along with Macy Forrest and Rachel Glenny, were also part of the 4×800 relay team that placed sixth. Rachel also had a nice race in the 300 meter hurdles placing fifth with a season best time of 49.74 seconds.
Rachel Hale took part in the steeplechase placing fourth and improving on her time from last year.
On the boys side, freshman Harry McMillen also competed in the steeplechase for the first time and placed sixth.
Curwensville senior Ciara Strickland placed seventh in a very competitive 400 meter race, that had over 15 girls run under 1:05.
The boys place winners were led by Mason Royer, who placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles and seventh in the 110 meter high hurdles. They may not have been his best times, but Mason got some valuable race experience that will help him entering upcoming championships.
Grant Climie was the other individual place winner coming away with a season best leap in the triple jump and an eighth place overall.
The boys 4×400 relay of Royer, Jakob Wingate, Casey Wilsoncroft and Climie had a great race improving on their best time by over two seconds and came away with an eighth place finish.
