Clearfield (April 12)—Brandon Orsich of Clearfield and Kalee Wayne of DuBois took home top honors in the Gold Pin Scratch Classic tournament held Sunday afternoon at Clearfield Lanes.
33 members and guests (22 male and 11 female) took to the lanes for a three game qualifying session before the fields were cut to the top seven.
Josh Hall (650 series) and Andrea Lipps (530 series) both bowling out of Bradford captured the top seeds in their respective divisions, and received bowling bags from Global 900 for the efforts.
The first round of the roll offs saw Orsich, Jacob Amster and C.J. Verbeck picking up wins on the boys side while Wayne, Chloe Zelensky, and Renee Nedza won on the girls end.
The semi-final matches saw Hall taking a 190-188 over Verbeck while Orsich outdueled Amster 201-183. The girl’s semis had Zelensky beating Lipps 160-149 while Wayne just edged out Nedza 165-164.
In the finals it was Orsich taking his first win by the score of 216-192 over Hall.
In a rematch of the fall tournament final it was Wayne again outmatching Zelensky 187-161. In the third place matches it was Amster taking the win over Verbeck 217-182 while Nedza outdueling Lipps 171-144.
The district four gold pin club is for boys who have bowled a 600 while girls qualify by bowling a 500 series. District four bowling centers include Bradford, Brookville, Clearfield, DuBois, Emporium, Kane, and Saint Marys.
Gold pin tournament director Don Barr looks to have the fall tournament in Brookville. Further information on this tournament will be given out at a later date.
