Ruth C. Thomas, 97, of Clearfield, died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.
Mrs. Thomas was born June 4, 1917, in Van Ormer, the daughter of Jay and Lois (Troxell) Kuhn-Britten.
She was a graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield.
She is survived by three children, Gary L. Thomas and his wife, Loreen of Truckee, Calif., Robert B. Thomas and his wife, Margaret of Somerset, NJ and Janet G. Webster of Butler; four grandchildren, Christopher Thomas, Jeffrey Thomas, Carrie (Thomas) Beadling and Nicole Webster; six great-grandchildren; and a niece, Nicole Britten of Carlisle.
Mrs. Thomas was the last member of her generation. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Forrest Britten; her husband, Horace B. Thomas, to whom she was married May 15, 1939 at Ebensburg and whom died Dec. 7, 2001; and a brother, Dale Britten.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Burial will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
