HYDE — The Clearfield Bison baseball team will take their 3-1 record to Altoona Friday for a rematch with Central in the quarterfinals of the 11th annual Curve Classic.
The 3 p.m. game at Peoples Natural Gas Field, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Class AA Eastern League affiliate Altoona Curve, will count in the Mountain League.
Clearfield opened the season with a 2-0 victory over the defending champions March 23 and followed with two more league wins before losing 7-4 in nine innings to Punxsutawney in non-league action Monday.
Coach Sid Lansberry’s Bison have appeared in four Curve Classics with a 7-3 record, twice advancing to the finals and winning the championship in 2008.
Other quarterfinal pairings are Bishop Guilfoyle against Forest Hills at 10 a.m., Altoona against Derry Area at 12:30 p.m. and Hollidaysburg against Greater Latrobe at 5:30.
Clearfield will play Bishop Guilfoyle or Forest Hills Saturday. Starting times are 10 a.m. for a consolation game and 3 p.m. for a championship semifinal.
The title game is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
While parking and admission are free, fans are encouraged to donate to the Curve Classic Athletic Department Fund, with the all money collected going to the athletic department of the Most Valuable Player’s school.
Fans are asked to park in the VIP Parking Lot and enter through the lower-level VIP entrance.
