A two-day event will seek to empower women (and men) interested in learning more about entry to the energy field and will include practical information on industry terminology and practices, networking and opportunities for development with industry HR professionals.
The Young Professional Women in Energy (YPWE) will hold a Launch Academy April 30 and May 1, at the CONSOL Gas Training Academy in Canonsburg.
This event will focus on the Fundamentals of Shale, presented by Jim Ladlee, Penn State Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research and ShaleTEC, and Dan Brockett, Penn State Extension Marcellus Education Team.
The first full day session will explore occupational summaries, vocabulary and an interactive and necessary working knowledge of the industry. Topics discussed will include shale economics, geology, drilling practices, well construction, reservoir stimulation and well completion, production and workforce.
The course will be followed by a YPWE Happy Hour at Jackson’s Restaurant, where attendees have the chance to network with members and industry professionals.
Day two will feature breakout sessions with CONSOL Energy’s HR team to help new candidates prepare their resume and interview skills.
The event, hosted by CONSOL Energy, is offered to help provide a two-day intensive course with the focus of providing women a foundation to break into the energy industry.
The program is open to everyone regardless of gender. Seating is limited, and registration may be done online atwww.ypwe.org/event-registration/. There is a fee for the event.
