CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Brittany Mercedes Ross, 23, of Spring Avenue, DuBois. Ross was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on March 31.
On Feb. 13, Sgt. Dustin R. Roy of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Ross. He charged Ross with burglary, F1; criminal conspiracy, F1; criminal trespass, F2; and theft by unlawful taking, M1.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 8, 2014, police were dispatched to an alleged burglary at a West Long Avenue residence in DuBois City.
Upon investigation police alleged that Ross used a credit card to pry open a door and then entered an apartment. Once inside she allegedly removed a laptop valued at approximately $300.
It was also found that another individual served as a lookout for Ross during the alleged incident.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 20, at which time Ross failed to appear and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Shaw stated that on Friday, DuBois City police received information about Ross’ location. She was apprehended at a residence located on Spring Avenue, DuBois.
Ross was taken into custody without incident. Ross is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the DuBois City police and Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
