DUBOIS – A DuBois couple is facing charges following a physical altercation at their home.
According to affidavits of probable cause filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office March 23, Amy Farrell, 37, and Thomas P. Farrell, 44, 233 S. Church St., DuBois, are both charged by the DuBois City police with harassment and assault.
According to the affidavits, police were called to the Farrell house March 22 for a domestic dispute. When police arrived, they first spoke to Amy Farrell, who allegedly told police she began arguing with her husband, Thomas, about his son’s birthday and he became verbally abusive.
Amy Farrell allegedly told police she asked Thomas Farrell to leave, but he jumped up and pinned her hands beside her head on the couch. Amy Farrell allegedly told police Thomas Farrell then held her keys away from her, but she was able to hook her finger inside the ring, but he grabbed her hand and forced her to the ground.
Amy Farrell allegedly told police Thomas Farrell then struck her in the genitals, so she struck him in his genitals to make him stop.
When police spoke to Thomas Farrell, he allegedly told police he had been arguing with Amy Farrell about his son’s birthday. He told police he was sitting on the couch and Amy Farrell was pushing him and swinging at him.
Thomas Farrell allegedly told police that he held Amy Farrell down on the couch to stop her from hitting him. He allegedly told police that when he let go, Amy Farrell struck him on the side of the head with a closed fist, which caused him to get dizzy.
Thomas Farrell allegedly told police he was looking in Amy Farrell’s purse for her cell phone and she came up behind him and struck him in the genitals. Thomas Farrell allegedly told police he pulled Amy Farrell down and struck her in the genitals, hoping to make her stop.
Following a medical examination, Amy Farrell was found to have bruising on her body and Thomas Farrell was found to have a ruptured eardrum.
