HARRISBURG – Grants for historical societies, heritage associations and a history village have been approved by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) for facilities in Cambria, Bedford and Clearfield counties, according to State Sen. John Wozniak.
“The grants help these local organizations tell stories about the past and convey how the lessons learned may help us in the future,” Wozniak said. “The grants can be used for general operations and will be very useful in support of these facilities.”
In Cambria, the Cambria County Historical Society will receive $4,000 and the Johnstown Area Heritage Association $41,337; Bedford County’s Old Bedford Village is slated to get $5,906; $4,000 has been earmarked for the Clearfield County Historical Society.
The PHMC program is designed to assist museums and local historical organizations that do not receive support through other agency programs.
A total of $1.9 million in grants were approved for 120 organizations.
