DUBOIS – Representatives from the Clearfield Area United Way recently delivered more than 100 books as part of their Reading Ripples Project to Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
The books are for the hospital’s surgical waiting areas. The book donation is a part of International Children’s Books Day, which is April 2.
“We can all remember our favorite childhood books, and the way it could fire your imagination,” said Nancy Pinto, CAUW chief professional officer.
“Reading aloud is the single most important thing you can do to help prepare a child for reading and learning. This is one more way to get books into the hands of children and to inspire a love of reading.”
Gently used books are collected for “Reading Ripples,” coordinated, processed and distributed by the CAUW.
“We work with over 80 volunteers, 24 member agencies, who touch lives from infants to the elderly throughout eastern, southern and central Clearfield County,” said Pinto.
“We are always collecting gently used children’s books. If an individual or a group of employees would like to do a collection, we will be more than happy to deliver those to children’s groups.”
