Sara A. ‘Sally’ Rowles, 80, of Clearfield died Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was born Dec. 23, 1934 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Amos and Ruth (Johnston) Hess.
Mrs. Rowles was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. She also had worked for McGregor’s for a number of years. Mrs. Rowles cherished times spent with her family and putting puzzles together.
She is survived by children, Theresa Paddock and her husband, Costas of North Carolina, Terry Rowles and Ernest Rowles III, both of Curwensville, Patricia Harris and her husband, Ronald of Florida and Diana Duncan and her companion, John Visnofsky of Madera.
She is survived by six grandchildren, Brandon and Mindy Paddock, Michael and Jill Rowles, Ronnie Harris and Alex Duncan and two great-granddaughters, Chloe and Gabbie.
She is also survived by four brothers, John Hess of Hyde, James Hess of Port Royal, Andrew Hess of Clearfield and Edward Hess of Curwensville; a sister, Mary Harris of Lock Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Rowles Jr. on Sept. 8, 2009 and whom she wed March 19, 1955; a son, Gary Rowles; a grandson, Chad Auwater; two brothers, Amos and William Hess; and two sisters, Rhoda Billotte and Ruth Luzier.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with burial directly to follow in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville.
