State police at Clearfield
- A hit-and-run accident occurred on Lingle Street in Osceola Mills Borough. On March 3-4, a Nissan Altima was parked on the shoulder of the roadway and faced northbound. The operator of another vehicle backed into it and then fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
- An incident of harassment occurred Tuesday on Bell Run Road in Penn Township. Both the accused and the victim allegedly engaged in a verbal argument, which escalated into a physical assault. The incident remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
- An incident of harassment occurred between Feb. 10 and Tuesday on Cooper Avenue in Glen Hope. On various occasions, the accused has allegedly thrown items at the victim, causing minor injury. The incident remains under investigation at this time, state police said.
- An accident involving a school bus occurred Tuesday on Schofield Street Extension in Curwensville Borough. A vehicle operated by a known female juvenile was traveling south and approaching a right-hand curve. At the time, a school bus operated by Budd E. Siverd of Northern Cambria was traveling north and approaching a left-hand curve. Both operators were negotiating the same curve when the juvenile’s vehicle sideswiped the school bus, causing disabling damage. There were 16 juvenile passengers on the school bus; no injuries were reported as a result of the accident, state police said.
State police at DuBois
- On Tuesday, a 57-year-old Beccaria man was stopped for an alleged vehicle code violation on East Main Street in Sykesville Borough. He was found to be labeled as a “habitual offender” by PennDOT for multiple driving while operating privilege is suspended/revoked violations. He was allegedly found to be in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. The man was subsequently arrested for related vehicle code violations and drug charges, state police said.
- An incident of DUI occurred Tuesday on Route 219 in Sandy Township. Further, a 42-year-old Clearfield man was allegedly observed not wearing a seatbelt while operating a vehicle. He was also allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. He was subsequently placed under arrest for suspected DUI; charges are currently pending laboratory analysis, state police said.
- An incident of DUI occurred Wednesday on Liberty Boulevard in DuBois City. During the incident, a 29-year-old Punxsutawney man was allegedly stopped for several summary traffic violations. While speaking with him, state police allegedly detected a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage. He was subsequently arrested for DUI and other summary traffic charges, which are pending blood test results.
State police at Philipsburg
- An incident of theft occurred March 3-4 in the parking lot on North Second Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a known 49-year-old woman allegedly removed the registration plate from the victim’s vehicle. - An accident occurred March 6 on Route 322 in Worth Township. Paula M. Brady of Clearfield was traveling around a slight, right-hand turn when her vehicle’s left front tire went onto the south berm. She swerved her vehicle back onto the roadway, at which point it began to rotate counterclockwise. It traveled off the roadway onto the south shoulder, going broadside before sliding through some piled up snow. The Brady vehicle then overturned onto its roof after which motorists stopped to assist Brady with getting out, state police said. Brady wasn’t hurt and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
- An accident occurred March 7 in the area of Marengo and Loveville roads in Halfmoon Township. Further, the operator of a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west when he lost control while negotiating a left-hand curve in the roadway. His vehicle struck an embankment, causing it to overturn onto its roof and come to a rest in the middle of Marengo Road. A passenger was transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center with minor injuries. The operator was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol and transported to the hospital for blood alcohol testing. Charges will be filed pending test results, state police said.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about a parking complaint on Clarendon Avenue.
- Police received a report about an alleged phone scam.
- Police received a report about a 911 hang-up call from a residence along Park Avenue Extension. Upon arrival police found a physical domestic dispute had occurred involving a male and female. As a result, police took a male into custody for domestic violence.
DuBois City
- On Monday, police received a report about an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle that occurred in the 400 block of Knarr Street. The victim told police a man who was working for and staying with him was permitted to borrow his truck. When the victim returned the next day, the man and his truck were gone. The victim, police said, located his truck and declined prosecution.
- On Monday, police initiated an investigation into the alleged theft of four iPods from a local business. Employees, police said, recently discovered the iPods were missing and initially believed they were misplaced months ago. Upon an internal investigation, employees found the iPods were in San Francisco, Calif. The iPods are valued at $300 each, police said.
- Police received a report about an autistic child who was found wandering around Monday in the 200 block of Rumbarger Avenue. Upon arrival police made contact with a resident who had found the child playing outside unsupervised and walking through the neighborhood. Although the child was unable to provide information, police were able to locate their father and return them home. Further investigation was turned over to the county’s Children & Youth Services Department, police said.
- On Monday, police received a report about a Megan’s Law offender who allegedly failed to comply with mandated reporting requirements. Further, a 48-year-old man allegedly left his address and didn’t report his new one to the Pennsylvania State Police within the required three days. An arrest warrant was obtained and charges are currently pending, police said, noting additional information will be released at a later date. Police were assisted by District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.
- Police received a report about a custody dispute Monday in the 200 block of Chestnut Street. The caller told police she and her boyfriend had recently separated after formally residing together, and she had left with the child. Police advised both parties to seek custody arrangements through the courts.
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run accident involving a parked vehicle Monday in the 400 block of South Main Street. Further, police found an 82-year-old woman was traveling north when her vehicle struck another parked along the street. The woman contacted police upon her arrival at her destination; police checked the area but were unable to locate any vehicles with corresponding damage. The accident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- Police received a report about an accident Tuesday in the 200 block of East Scribner Avenue. Further, a resident called and reported to police that a neighbor’s pick-up truck was resting against her bumper. Police were able to determine that the truck had slid on ice and came to a rest against the resident’s vehicle. Police assisted with the exchange of information and noted charges will not be filed as a result.
- Police received a report about an accident Tuesday in the 500 block of Sunflower Drive. Further, one operator was backing out of a parking spot when they entered into the path of another vehicle, which was being parked. No injuries were reported, police said. Police assisted with the exchange of information and noted charges will not be filed as a result.
- On Tuesday, police received a report regarding the alleged theft of a sign from the window of a Hoover Avenue business. The sign is valued at $30; the incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic disturbance between a man and woman Tuesday on Olive Avenue. Upon arrival police made contact with both parties who didn’t want to file any charges. The male agreed to leave the apartment, and no further action was necessary, police said.
Sandy Township
- A 65-year-old DuBois man drove his vehicle into a fence in the parking lot behind Napa on Monday. He then left the vehicle and went into the Sandy Club. The vehicle then caught on fire and had to be extinguished by firefighters, police said.
- Police were requested to check the welfare of a man who was walking Tuesday along Shaffer Road. Police located the 68-year-old DuBois man who stated he was waiting for a bus but had excessive leg pain. Police called emergency personnel to do an evaluation.
- A Punxsutawney woman reported she misplaced her cell phone Tuesday at TJ Maxx or Station 101.
- On Tuesday a 57-year-old DuBois man reported receiving numerous harassing phone calls from an unknown male. When police attempted to call the phone number that came up on the man’s caller ID, the line was continuously busy.
