Billionaire investor and major Republican donor Paul Singer will co-host a fundraiser for five female members of Congress in New York City at the end of this month.
According to an invitation shared with CNN, Singer and 20 others will host a lunch for Sens. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and freshmen Reps. Elise Stefanik of New York, Martha McSally of Arizona and Barbara Comstock of Virginia.
An invitation to the March 31 “Winning Women 2016” luncheon asks for donations of “up to $5400 per candidate.”
“In Congress, GOP women comprise only 6% of members compared to the Democrats’ 14%,” the invite reads. “We can and must do better. Re-electing these women to office is an important beginning.”
The invitation refers to Winning Women 2016 as a joint fundraising committee.
Singer adviser Annie Dickerson and investor Chuck Schwab are among the other co-hosts of the event.
Singer, founder of the hedge fund Elliott Management, is one of the most influential and high-profile Republicans donors. He has particularly attracted attention in recent years for his advocacy of LGBT rights, including same-sex marriage, as well as hawkish national security policies.
