Hillary Clinton will likely address the nagging email controversy surrounding her at some point this week — but not today, according to two sources familiar with her plans.
Plans are still fluid but Clinton’s team now realizes the current situation is untenable after a weekend of negative coverage, according to another source.
Clinton will speak Monday at an event for “No Ceilings,” a joint effort by the Gates Foundation and the Clinton Foundation promoting opportunities and representation for girls. Hillary Clinton will join Chelsea Clinton, Melinda Gates, Malala Yousafzai to roll out a year-long report about women’s participation.
Clinton’s team considered addressing the controversy there. But they decided against it because the venue isn’t just a Clinton occasion and discussing the emails there could distract from the purpose of the event.
Clinton’s only other event of the week is a speech at a United Nations women’s event on Tuesday, though that might also be a problematic place to talk about the emails, multiple sources tell CNN.
