CLEARFIELD – Seven members of the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center DECA Chapter competed in the 64th annual State Career Development Conference at the Hershey Lodge on Feb. 24–26.
Representing CCCTC in the conference were: Brendan Fritz, Sports and Entertainment Individual event; Â Alexa Shawver and Bridget Hallman, Sports and Entertainment Team event; Lacy Matier, Job Interview event; and Melinda Campbell, Katie Jacobs and Ronniesue Krineski, Entrepreneur Promotion Plan event.
Fritz received a medal for being among the top scorers on the Marketing Cluster Exam from the technical schools.
Campbell, Jacobs and Krineski were finalists in their event. For their project, the trio created an Entrepreneurship Workshop for the afternoon students at the CCCTC.
Students from the other programs learned what entrepreneurship is, benefits and disadvantages of owning a business, parts of a business plan, ways to fund a business and local resources available to help small business owners.
A total of 114 students attended the Entrepreneurship Workshop. The girls submitted a 30-page written paper and gave a presentation at Hershey about their project for the Entrepreneur Promotion Plan event.
