Trudy Lumadue is pleased to announce her bid to seek the Democratic nomination for Clearfield County Commissioner.
Lumadue is a native to Clearfield County, having been born in Clearfield and raised in Boggs Township. Lumadue currently resides in Clearfield Borough, where she has opened her home to fostering children in need of a home.
Lumadue attended both Clearfield and Philipsburg-Osceola Area High Schools, having graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola in 1988. Lumadue is a local attorney, with her office at 211 E. Pine St. in Clearfield.
Prior to owning her own law practice, Lumadue worked for five years as an Assistant District Attorney. Lumadue also worked as an associate with local Attorney James A. Naddeo of Naddeo & Lewis LLC for four years.
Lumadue received her law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, Calif., where she attended law school on a scholarship offered to her by the school, as a result of her prior academic achievements. Lumadue has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, and a Master’s degree in human resources-labor relations.
Lumadue states, “I am proud to live in Clearfield County, and it’s my desire to work to bring our community to a place of prosperity.” Lumadue believes this needs to be accomplished, by not only fostering the current county tourism grant programs, but also by grooming a greater sense of community among our citizens.
Lumadue says she will work to create a climate where entrepreneurs and business owners are pleased to say “Yes” to open their doors in Clearfield County. Lumadue states, “We have amazing young minds coming out of our local schools. They need to be given good reason to make Clearfield County their permanent home.”
Lumadue is keen to the pressing issues at hand. Her experience representing businesses as they become established, and throughout their trials and problem solving, provides a solid basis for solving the local government’s economic problems.
Lumadue understands that the current budget is more than strained. Lumadue believes solutions that will bring revenue to the county, without cutting essentials in the governmental workforce and operations, must be explored. Lumadue’s business and litigation experience will provide an edge to her insight, were she elected to the office of Clearfield County Commissioner.
Lumadue has legal experience representing local land owners and gas and oil companies amidst the recent Marcellus shale boom. This gives her first-hand knowledge as to the concerns of landowners, and the needs of the industry.
Lumadue affirms that she will work to ensure the landowners are not forgotten, while also maintaining an economic environment for oil and gas companies to generate revenue into the county. Lumadue states that she will make it a priority to assure that fees assessed upon natural gas extraction will continue to come back to local municipalities in the county.
Lumadue urges that the overcrowding at the Clearfield County Jail must be resolved. On this issue, Lumadue’s experience in the District Attorney’s office has allowed her to see the practical consequences that result from the overcrowding. Lumadue believes resolving this issue could also be a method for job creation.
To conclude, Lumadue states, “I truly believe Clearfield County has character, and I will work hard to ensure it is a place all of its citizens are proud to call home.”
