CURWENSVILLE — The three Curwensville Area High School wrestlers who qualified for the 2014 Northwest Region Class AA Tournament received byes into Friday evening’s quarterfinals at Sharon High School.
All are paired against District 10 survivors.
At 138 pounds, junior District 9 champion Shae Bloom (28-2) will meet either Reynolds sophomore Chaise Hauck (20-14) or Sharpsville freshman Cameron Prebble (25-12). Hauck placed fourth and Prebble finished sixth.
Both of the Golden Tide’s District 9 bronze medalists have drawn District 10 runners-up.
Senior 152-pounder Jake Lancaster (13-5) will meet Reynolds sophomore Joel Leise (10-5).
Junior 182-pounder Ben Junod (14-15) gets Fort LeBoeuf senior Garrette Reinwald (33-7).
Action will begin on four mats at 5:30 with two pigtail bouts at each weight followed by the quarterfinals.
All wrestlers will return Saturday for a 9 a.m. session of a consolation first round and then the championship semifinals on three mats. Consolation quarterfinals are set for 11:30, with consolation semifinals to follow.
The final session will have consolation finals 3:30 p.m. and championship bouts at 5:30.
