Nellie L. ‘Dottie’ Maines, 82, of Woodland went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 at Penn Highlands Clearfield surrounded by her family and pastor.
She was born Nov. 29, 1932 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Paul and Maude (Mains) Krise.
Mrs. Maines was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crafts and making homemade gifts for her nieces and nephews.
In her free time, she enjoyed feeding birds, entertaining her cats and hunting deer with her family.
Mrs. Maines was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Woodland, where she was active with the ‘Sunshine Circle.” She also taught Sunday school, Bible school and youth fellowship.
She is survived by three children, Martin Maines and his wife, Kim, Marvin Maines and his wife, Jean and Mona Welker and her husband, Ernest, all of Woodland.
She is survived by eight grandchildren, Heath Maines, Jenna Hudson, Josh and Garrett Maines, Roland Welker, Megan Francis, Kathy Schubert and Hugh Ross and two great-granddaughters, Myleigh and Maleah Hudson.
She is also survived by a sister, Mona Strong of Clearfield and two brothers, Leo P. Krise and Ron Krise and his wife, Norma, both of Woodland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Maines, on July 18, 2013 and whom she wed July 2, 1948. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lou Maines.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Woodland, with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, c/o Pastor Sean Patrick Smith, 115 Lake St., Woodland, or to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield.
