HARRISONBURG, Va. — Freshman second baseman Jarrett Fulmer (Clearfield) singled and scored the first run of the season for Penn State Altoona in Saturday’s opener against Eastern Mennonite.
His run tied the score at 1-1 in the fifth inning and the Lions went in front with a run in the top of the sixth, but the hosts rallied to win 6-3.
Fulmer also recorded five putouts and one assist.
Sophomore right-hander Kurtis Krise (Clearfield) is one of the returnees to the Penn State Altoona pitching staff after posting a 3-2 record with a team-best 4.54 earned run average in 2014.
Krise worked 37.2 innings in eight appearances for the 17-25 Lions, with three complete games in six starts. He struck out 20 batters, walked 10 and hit two.
