Mark Higgins of State College has announced his candidacy for Commissioner of Centre County.
Higgins has worked for 30 years as a turnaround expert in industry and, over that time, has saved and created hundreds of jobs at seven, different businesses.
He currently works at Link Computer based in Altoona, where he has increased sales of Link’s Cloud Services division by more than 600 percent in five years.
Higgins is ready to take on a new challenge — to work for the citizens of Centre County, as County Commissioner — creating good jobs and providing more effective services here in Centre County.
Higgins volunteers and has volunteered for many and varied non-profits–small and local — such as Cub Scouts; State College Cycling and theater groups; statewide organizations with almost 100,000 members; and the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County (CBICC).
In addition,
Higgins was an active parent volunteer in the 2014 campaign to pass the State High referendum.
“I love Centre County and would like the opportunity to further improve the quality of life for all county residents. As Commissioner, I will use my unique skills to create more effective teams of county employees and lead the county to a more prosperous future,” said Higgins.
“I understand the difficult challenges of county government and have a 30-year track record of successfully improving challenging situations. With citizen support, I believe we can make the county an even better place,” Higgins continued.
Higgins lives in State College Borough with his wife and son and daughter, both students at State High.
