DUBOIS – Educational opportunities that could lead to careers in fields, such as energy, environmental conservation and more will be showcased at Earth Science Visitation Day at Penn State DuBois on Feb. 24.
This event will provide prospective students with complete information on the Earth Science baccalaureate degree at Penn State DuBois, and the careers that graduates of the program are prepared to peruse. Those attending will also receive an admissions overview, meet and have lunch with faculty from the program and take a campus tour.
The Earth Sciences major encompasses the fields of geoscience, geography, meteorology, geophysics and soil science, with a solid foundation in the supporting sciences.
It is especially directed toward the study of the problems that arise from the complex interaction of human technological and social activities with the natural environment. An offering of minors in geography, geophysics, natural resources and Watersheds and Water Resources allows students to tailor the curriculum to their interests and goals.
This degree is suited for students interested in a broad range of environment-related careers, including the oil and gas field, environmental sciences, or careers in government, industry, consulting, or K-12 education.
The degree is also a natural fit for students currently enrolled in the Wildlife Technology associate degree at Penn State DuBois who wish to continue their education and earn a Bachelor’s degree. Suitable choices of courses may qualify students for graduate work in several fields.
Earth Science Visitation Day is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24, in Room 209 of the DEF Building at Penn State DuBois. Registration is required. To Register, or for more information, visit www.dubois.psu.edu/visit or call 814-375-4720.
