DUBOIS – A Treasure Lake man is facing charges following a traffic accident Jan. 3.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office Feb. 5, Matthew Eric Dunlap, 39, 158 Cliperton Court, 1534 Treasure Lake, DuBois, is charged by the Sandy Township police with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and careless driving.
According to the affidavit, police were called to a traffic accident on Bay Road in Treasure Lake for a vehicle, which had hit a tree.
When police arrived they saw a Toyota with extensive damage sitting in a yard near 3227 Bay Rd. after having struck the tree.
The driver, later identified as Dunlap, was being treated by EMS and fire personnel. Police spoke to Dunlap as he was being taken to Penn Highlands DuBois for treatment.
Dunlap told the officers that he remembered leaving the Ski Lodge in Treasure Lake but could not remember anything after that. Police could smell alcohol coming from Dunlap and asked if he had been drinking. Dunlap allegedly told police that he had been drinking.
After being taken to the hospital, Dunlap consented to blood-alcohol testing, which showed he had a BAC of 0.191 at the time of the accident.
