Three soldiers were attacked by a man with a knife Tuesday in the city of Nice in southern France, the city’s mayor, Christian Estrosi, told CNN’s French affiliate BFMTV.
The soldiers, who were slightly wounded, were attacked in the center of Nice while on patrol near a Jewish community center.
The patrol was part of stepped up security measures in the wake of last month’s terror attacks in Paris.
The suspected attacker has been arrested, BFMTV reported. A second man seen with the suspect before the attack is also being held, although there’s nothing to indicate he was an accomplice, BFMTV said.
“I congratulate the police forces for their quick intervention and would like to hand over to them all the cameras and CCTV to assist the investigation,” Estrosi said on Twitter.
