DUBOIS – Beating the Curwensville Lady Tide girls basketball team earlier this month, 40-30, DuBois Central Catholic (DCC) completed the season sweep Tuesday night on the Lady Cardinals’ home floor, 60-33. The contest was a make-up from Monday’s postponement due to the area snow storm.
The Lady Cardinals won every period in its home court win, with the Lady Tide putting up 15 tallies in the second period, which was their best eight minutes on a cold night for Curwensville.
Unfortunately the cold weather outdoors didn’t effect the hot shooting indoors for the Lady Cardinals, echoed by Curwensville head coach Rusty McCracken, who said, “We didn’t rebound well tonight and the reason being was the fact they (DCC) didn’t leave many rebounds to grab because they shot so well.”
McCracken went on to say, “It was a tough game for us and right now DuBois Central is a hot team.”
The Lady Cardinals, under head coach Mike Nesbit, are 10-6 on the year and have won eight of its last nine games.
Once again Ciara Strickland led the Lady Tide on offense. The senior scored 16 points, which included connecting on two three-pointers.
DuBois Central Catholic was paced by sophomore Riley Assalone who poured in 22 points, which also included two treys.
DCC started the night winning the junior varsity game, beating the young Lady Tide by a score of 28-8.
Curwensville (9-5) will return to action quickly, as they host the Glendale Lady Vikings Wednesday night with JV action starting at 6 pm and the varsity to immediately follow in a Moshannon Valley League game.
