The blizzard isn’t just making waves in the Northeast; it’s generating buzz on social media, too.
The hashtag #blizzardof2015 was trending nationwide as experts warned it was no ordinary snowstorm.
But as the National Weather Service used terms such as “life-threatening” and “historic” to describe the feet of snow expected to fall, social media users, in true form, found some humor in it.
Others provided tongue-in-cheek survival tips.
Others had no time for wit; they were too busy loading up on food.
And more food.
Others used humor to send out a clear message.
But experts were not laughing.
The storm could dump up to 3 feet of snow in Boston and New York before it ends Tuesday, along with freezing rain and strong wind gusts possibly reaching hurricane level.
Blizzard and winter storm warnings are up from New Jersey through Maine and into Canada.
“I want everyone to understand that we are facing — most likely — one of the largest snowstorms in the history of this city,” said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
