PHILIPSBURG – Two people have been charged for the alleged burglary that occurred at the Conklin’s Corner Barn on Saturday, according to the state police at Philipsburg.
Jake F. Schneider, 20, of Munson and Kristina M. Smarsh, 21, of Philipsburg have been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and several conspiracy charges.
According to the initial incident reports, two actors entered the Conklin’s Corner Barn at approximately 8:24 p.m. Saturday. Once inside they allegedly removed currency from two display cases and fled the scene towards Philipsburg.
The actors allegedly removed items, including but not limited to a certified $1,000 bill; North Africa notes; large-sized Civil War era notes; a 15 cent note; National Bank notes; a John F. Kennedy gold commemorative coin; 50-60 gold and silver certified coins; and various gold and silver bullion (coins), state police said.
Most of the items reported as stolen have been recovered at this time. However, the investigation remains active in an attempt to recover all items, such as the old U.S. Currency and various gold and silver coins, state police said.
