Carmen Tatananni, 92, of Clearfield died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
He was born June 2, 1923 in Bagno, Italy, a son of the late Thomas and Maria Tatananni.
Mr. Tatananni was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 30 years. He had also operated the former Betty Brite Cleaners in Clearfield for 25 years.
Mr. Tatananni always prided himself with planting a vegetable garden at his house every year and also traveling to the northeastern part of Pennsylvania to pick grapes.
He also enjoyed meeting his friends at the former Clearfield Diner every morning.
He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield. He was also a member of the Clearfield Sons of Italy and the Clearfield American Legion.
Mr. Tatananni played clarinet with the 421st U.S. Army Band from 1952-1954.
He is survived by his daughter, Maria Clark and her long-time, companion Dean Thompson of Clearfield and a grandson, Ryan Clark of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gilda (Scmia) Tatananni on March 25, 2002 and whom he wed May 19, 1958 in Bagno Grande, Italy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Fr. John Miller as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
