The underwater tunnel connecting Britain and France closed Saturday because of a report of smoke, forcing a high-speed train service between the countries to stop for the day, officials said.
The Eurostar train service was “unable to run any further trains today” because of the smoke, the company said early Saturday afternoon.
Police in Kent, England, didn’t immediately respond to CNN’s questions about the cause of the smoke.
“If you were planning to travel today, we advise you to postpone your journey and not to come to the station,” Eurostar said on its website.
Eurostar connects London to Paris and Brussels.
