CLEARFIELD – Last night, Clearfield Borough Council approved accepting the Novey property, which will be a part of Phase II of the Riverfront Redevelopment Project, as a donation pending conditions.
Council noted that the Novey property will need to meet environmental requirements. Also, council noted that the deed will forbid any future construction on the Novey property.
Once turned over to the borough, project plans will involve encapsulating the ground to seal from any contaminates on the Novey property. A small building will be grandfathered in and open to future renovation, according to council.
In other business, council awarded its gas and diesel bid to JJ Powell Inc. Its variable rates will be $1.26 for gas and $1.69 for diesel. It was noted that these locked in rates were each $1 higher.
The council approved hiring both Adam Raybuck and Derek Walsh as part-time police officers. Walsh currently works as a part-time officer for Sandy Township police. Raybuck’s hiring was approved pending evaluations.
Stott reminded council about the Clearfield Revitalization Corp.’s Town Hall meeting. It will be held at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the St. Charles Café.
She also asked for chaperones for the youth council’s “Hometown Vintage Ball.” It is a non-school sponsored student dance. It will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Elks.
The council appointed Stott as delegate to the Clearfield County Tax Collection Committee with Barbara Shaffner as the alternate delegate.
