Karla Ann Franchock, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015.
She was born Aug. 17, 1954 to her parents, June (Graffius) and George Franchock. As a youth, she liked to read, swim in Glen Hope Creek and play in Blue Run.
After graduating from Moshannon Valley High School, she pursued a business degree at Robert Morris College. She resided in Pittsburgh most of her life and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
She will be remembered for her tenacious spirit during her long battle with cancer, her zest for life and, above all, her love of shopping.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Franchock.
She is survived by her mother, June of Glen Hope; her sister, Nina Bratton and her friend, John Belis of Harrisburg; her brother, Neal Jacob Franchock and sister-in-law, JoAnn (Spencer) of Glen Hope; her sister, Karen Kay Franchock of Greenville, NC; and her brother, George Alan Franchock and sister-in-law, Linda (Finch) of Port Matilda.
She is also survived by seven nephews; one niece; two great-nephews; and seven great-nieces.
The family also would like to recognize Sharee Sypinski of Delaware, who was Ms. Franchock’s best friend for more than 42 years.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank the many friends and caregivers who assisted with Ms. Franchock’s care and who supported her and the family during her long illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Association.
