Mitt Romney plans to attend the Republican National Committee winter meeting near San Diego this week, an RNC source tells CNN.
“He has been invited and we’ve been told he is planning to attend,” said the RNC source.
It is unclear which day Romney will address the gathered members of the Republican National Committee. The winter meeting is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, Jan. 14 to Friday, Jan. 16.
Other potential 2016ers planning to address the RNC this week include Dr. Ben Carson, Gov. Scott Walker, R-Wisconsin, and Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas. All three of those hopefuls will address the RNC in open press sessions. It is unclear if Romney will make open press remarks while in San Diego.
Romney’s expected attendance was first reported by The Washington Post.
