CLEARFIELD – Race Street Brew Works of Clearfield held its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Dec. 27, announced Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) Main Street Manager Loretta Wagner.
Race Street Brew Works is locally-owned and operated by Bohb Striker and Mike Askey. It has been described as one of the most unique brewpubs not only in the area, but also in the state, stated Wagner.
According to her, the industrial-themed brewery and dining area are mixed with the warmness of the wood and colors of the mezzanine lounge. It also features a “unique, ever-changing” pub menu and specialty beers that range from German wheats and Belgian ales to West Coast IPAs, she added.
“This is very exciting for Clearfield. Not only is Race Street Brew Works a locally-owned business, but this also serves as an opportunity for the community to see the light at the end of the tunnel,” stated Wagner.
“There truly is potential for growth and prosperity in our hometown of Clearfield. With that in mind, I would like to wish Bohb Striker, Mike Askey and their staff success with the business.”
Clearfield County Commissioners John A. Sobel and Mark B. McCracken attended the grand opening of Race Street Brew Works. “It is great to see a unique business open in Clearfield,” they stated. “We wish Bohb, Mike and their staff many years of success with their patrons.”
Numerous other Clearfield officials were in attendance. Wagner complimented their support, saying, “It’s heartwarming to see so many different folks in town come out to support their local business.
“The stronger the support is from the community, the easier it will be for Clearfield to revitalize itself. Hopefully, this sets the trend for all businesses and the community, as we continue to buy and stay local and show support of our hometown.
“One business cannot pave the way for the town; it’s all of the businesses working together to support each other that makes revitalization possible. After seeing the turn out, I am confident Clearfield is heading in the right direction.”
Race Street Brew Works is located at 511 Spruce St., Suite 2, in the former Berg Electronics Building next to the Clearfield County Economic Development Corp. (CCEDC).
The brew pub’s current hours are Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. with more expanded hours and live musical entertainment in the works for 2015.
