A Virgin Atlantic plane that developed a technical fault with its landing gear en route to Las Vegas has landed safely at London’s Gatwick Airport, the airline says.
“Virgin Atlantic VS43 has landed safely at London Gatwick Airport,” a Virgin Atlantic UK representative told CNN. “Our priority at the moment is the safety of the passengers.”
Gatwick earlier said it had put its emergency services on standby for the flight to make a “non-standard landing.”
“In line with standard procedure, emergency services are on standby at the airport purely as a precaution,” it said on Twitter.
