DUBOIS – Last night, City Solicitor Toni Cherry read second and final readings of Council Bills for Per Capita Tax, Residence Tax, Tax Levy and the 2015 budget.
The council bills overall represented no tax increase for residents of DuBois during the year 2015.
Cherry also informed council that, “As soon as we have the deed signed, we can close that…” regarding a property at Route 255. Council noted it’s currently in the process of purchasing the property.
The decision to purchase the property occurred during the last work session meeting, where Cherry was requested to draw up a sales agreement for the purchase of the land in the amount of $90,000. It was noted that the property is located near the end of the DuBois City waterlines.
Also, during the work session meeting, council discussed vehicle parking on East Scribner Avenue that is making it difficult for plow trucks to get through.
Council noted that solutions to reconcile the issue are being discussed and include eliminating parking on the left-hand side of the road by the Reitz Theater. Council will pick up the discussion during the next work session meeting.
