BROOKVILLE – The Lady Raiders of Brookville had four players score in double figures Monday night as they defeated the visiting Clearfield Lady Bison in easy fashion, 70-31.
Brenna Dworek, off of the Raider bench, had a game high 17 points with Hali Olson adding 15, Mackenzie Ganoe with 14 and Amanda Ray chipping in with 10 for a very balanced attack as Brookville won for the fifth time in seven games.
Senior Emily Aveni paced the Lady Bison with 15, 11 coming in the first half that kept Clearfield in the contest.
Aveni scored seven in the first eight minutes as Clearfield fell behind 14-9 going into period number two.
Brookville raced out to a 12-2 lead thanks to a 12-0 run before Aveni hit a bucket and a free throw to stop the Lady Raider push.
Clearfield ended the first period on a 7-2 run of its own.
The second period saw Brookville increase its margin, but not before Clearfield pulled to within four points on a basket from Emily Ryan that cut the Raider lead to 19-15 with 4:15 remaining before the break.
Outscoring the Bison 7-1 from that point on before halftime, Brookville took a 10Â point lead at 26-16 at the half.
The second 16Â minutes was a totally different game as the Lady Raiders whipped the Lady Bison 44-15 to win easily.
Brookville was 13 of 18 from the free throw line with Clearfield connecting on just 3 of 12.
The evening’s first game saw the Clearfield junior varsity defeat Brookville by a score of 40-14. Ally Lindstrom and Samantha Rockmore each had 11.
The Lady Bison, now 2-6, return to action next Monday, December 29, when they host the Lady Tide of Curwensville. The JV game starts at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
