One person died and up to a dozen others were injured after a car plowed into a crowd of people in Southern California after a church Christmas event, police said.
“The vehicle struck a group of pedestrians, which included up to … 12 people, many with critical injuries that have been transported to multiple hospitals,” said Lt. Joe Hoffman of Redondo Beach Police Department.
The victims, including at least two children, were in a crosswalk on Pacific Coast Highway when the driver reportedly ran a red light and hit them.
The driver has been charged with felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter, Hoffman said.
