BELLEFONTE — The Clearfield Area High School boys basketball team bolted to a 17-4 lead in the first quarter and went on to outscore Bellefonte in the next three periods for a convincing 53-31 win in Mountain League action Wednesday night.
Will Myers filled up the stat sheet for the undefeated Bison with 15 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks, six assists and three steals.
Cody Spaid also made it difficult inside for the Raiders with eight rebounds and five blocks to go with 10 points. Erik Sellers had 10 points, too, in the balanced offense.
Trent Fortney was high for the Raiders (2-2, 0-2 ML) with 14 points.
Clearfield shot 44 percent from the floor and outrebounded Bellefonte 42-29 in its fourth victory, setting up a big showdown against Tyrone Friday.
First place will be at stake when the Golden Eagles invade Bison Gym as both teams are off to 3-0 starts.
The Clearfield junior varsity also was victorious, 45-32, Corey Shimmel leading the way with 11 points.
