Eight children have been found dead at a home in a suburb of the Australian city of Cairns, police said Friday.
Police said they were called to the property Friday morning after reports of a woman with serious injuries.
“During an examination of the residence, police located the bodies of the children, all aged between 18 months and 15 years,” the Queensland Service said in a statement.
The woman, who is believed to be in her 30s, is being treated for her injuries and is helping police with their investigation, the statement said.
