Mildred F. Yonushonis, 88, of Falls Creek died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Oct. 4, 1926 in Sykesville, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Sarah (Frantz) Walker.
She graduated from Sykesville High School.
On April 25, 1949 in DuBois, she married Thomas Martin Yonushonis. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2000.
She was a long-time member of the Falls Creek United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women and a dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend. Her granddaughters were the light of her life. Her beautiful flower gardens and colorful walkway were a delight to all.
She was a skilled seamstress and baker, always remembered birthdays and enjoyed her large extended family and many friends. Many people were touched by her generosity and kindness.
She truly led an exemplary life. She will be happily remembered and sadly missed.
She’s survived by her son, Thomas M. Yonushonis and his wife, Celeste of Columbus, Ind., her granddaughters, Grace and Rosemary Yonushonis of Columbus, Ind., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her five brothers and two sisters.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Kyung Chin officiating.
Burial will be in Beechwoods Cemetery.
